Who decides who won or lost?

Who decides who won or lost?

Dark_knight_rises_poster

The other day, I watched a batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises (2012).” Christian Bale played the role of batman. In one fight sequence Bane, the villain, breaks batman’s back, and I almost felt that pain. I know it’s a movie, but I still felt his emotion of pain. But why?

Here is what happened:

  • Christian Bale agreed to play the role of batman and he masked his real nature completely and got into the character of batman. This isn’t the only reason I felt his emotion of pain. There has to be something else.
  • I  knew I was watching a movie, but I agreed to mask the reality that I was watching a movie. I accepted to watch it as if it was happening right in front of me. I got sucked into the movie action, and I let the emotions get to me.

So these are the two rules for the game called “movie watching experience.”

This is what exactly happens in real life situations too: happiness or pain and loss or gain. We unconsciously follow the game rules and accept the outcome.

There is a possibility of winning or losing a game only when you have played the game; you play the game only when you agree the rules of the game. Therefore, If you don’t agree with the rules of the game, there is no such thing as “you lost the game.”

You don’t lose the game until you convince yourself you lost it.

You can look back there to explain things, but the explanation disappears. You will never find it there. Things are not explained by the past. They’re explained by what happens now. That creates the past. And it begins here. That’s the birth of responsibility. – Alan Watts.

Shelby Park, Nashville, TN.

Shelby Park, Nashville, TN.

What is this about?

Shelby park is peaceful, beautiful, and fun. I am not big into fishing, but I still sat there by the lake for hours, motionless, watching the reflection of trees in the water, paddling of ducks, and listening to the bird’s chirping.

There are walking trails, playgrounds, picnic tables and shelters, slides and swings for children, and huge green spaces.

What are the Hours?

What is an obstacle?

What is an obstacle?

By Raj H.

Photo B Raj H.

Photo B Raj H.

An obstacle is a known or unknown thing that happens at most unwanted or unexpected time on a journey towards our goal. There is no specific, step by step protocol on how to overcome an obstacle because we wouldn’t know what an obstacle is until we face it. If we could predict the nature and timing of an obstacle, it  wouldn’t be called an obstacle.

So, what now?

There are three things that will help us overcome obstacles and reduce the impact of these obstacles in our lives and help us maintain harmony and peace.

These three things are:

  • Definiteness of purpose: What do you really want?
  • Objectiveness: Don’t let your emotions and perception affect you when you are faced with an obstacle. See things as they are. Practice being in the present moment. Don’t let your past hold you and drag you down. “Here and now” is what you all have. This is your playground. Give your hundred percent. Change things that you can and don’t worry about what you can’t change. Play your game here and now.
  • Resilience: Shrug off the disappointments and temporary defeats; don’t consider them as  failures.

You may not be able to predict and tackle an obstacle with a definite plan, but you can incorporate the above three things in your life and don an universal skill to deal with any and all obstacles without perturbing peace in your life. But then obstacles are not necessarily bad things. They invoke a new dimension in you and leave you with wisdom.
